Please Allow Me To Introduce Myself

Creative Director & Owner at Company 5.19
I'm an Art Director, Photographer, Web Developer and Graphic Designer with a dash of Nerd. I am the right brain. I am creativity. A free spirit. I am passion. Yearning. Sensuality. I am the sound of roaring laughter. I am taste. The feeling of sand beneath bare feet. I am movement. Vivid colors. I am the urge to paint on an empty canvas.
I am boundless imagination. Art. Poetry. I sense. I feel. I am everything I wanted to be.

    Vine Generation

    25 Oct 2013

I fear we might be raising a generation that wants to make Vine videos for a living. In the past few years, everybody with an iphone became an avid photographer; however, knowing how to apply the Lo-Fi filter on instagram is definitely not a skill and the number of viewers on your youtube channel shouldn’t be something to brag about on a professional level. Your accomplishments on your resume shouldn’t include: “10k twitter followers” or “20 likes on latest facebook post”.

Sure, you can find great pictures and vids in social media, but most are coming from people who understand light; the exposure triangle, depth of field, color and composition rules; and more importantly, they know how to break those rules.

My advice to you: grab a camera with film (yes, film; they still have those) Pen and paper, a box of acrylics.. start cutting pictures from magazines, go back to basics. You’ll be ahead of everybody else... #nofilter

Don't try to stand out from the crowd.

    10 June 2013

Don't try to stand out from the crowd; avoid crowds altogether. I read this phrase in this great book called "Ignore Everybody" by Hugh MacLeod. After the concept sinks in, you start believing in that statement more and more. Your plan for getting your work out there has to be as original as the actual work, perhaps even more so; the book explains. The work has to create a totally new market. Thereʼs no point trying to do the same thing as 250,000 other young hopefuls, waiting for a miracle. All existing business models are wrong. Find a new one. Your own. How true and simple and genius is that?

    Who is Jonathan Ive?

    27 May 2013

BusinessWeek has an in depth look at Jonny Ive, Apple's head of making things pretty. Did you know that the 39-year-old British Industrial Design expert is a reluctant celebrity, who wouldn't even comment for the article? Of course, that's partially thanks to the strict lock Jobs had on all his employees, especially someone as high up as Ive.
For example, did you know Ive went to a candy factory to study jelly bean making in order to learn how not to make a plastic shell look cheap on a computer. Lots of other interesting details are to be found in this piece, giving you an intimate look of what made the man who makes the products the way you like them; shiny and usable.

    The Crazy Ones

    05 Oct 2011

Here's To The Crazy Ones. The misfits. The rebels. The trouble-makers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently.
They're not fond of rules, and they have no respect for the status-quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify, or vilify them.
About the only thing you can't do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius.
Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world - are the ones who do!"
